Today I am technically giving my father his father's day gift. Yes, it is a tad bit late- but I think it's totally worth the wait.
You may ask, how did I get him a gift seeing as how I have $7.00 in my bank account and I am unemployed. Well, I won FREE. YANKEES. SUITE. TICKETS.
Yes, you read that correctly. My father and I are going to the Yankee Game tonight! I entered him into the Lord & Taylor "Take Dad Out To The BallGame" Contest and he actually was one of the 8 winners! I couldn't believe it. What a perfect Father's Day gift!
The last time my father was at a Yankee Game- it was probably close to 10-12 years ago. He took my grandfather. They LOVED IT! Even though that was such a long time ago, I remember it clearly. I'm happy I can be able to take my father to a game like he did his. I hope we have fun. I've never been in a Yankee Suite before. EVER. So this should be an experience.
Keep your fingers crossed it is not horrible weather tonight. We are actually supposed to get thunderstorms tonight. I will be so mad if it is a long rain delay haha. Oh well. It happens, right? :)
I hope all of you have an amazing day! I know we will! <3

Why, thank you CongressWoman!
My house is a little crazy. We are an extremely loud family, we joke around A LOT, and there will always be a sarcastic tone coming out of my father or myself at any given moment.
The other day, my mom went out and got the mail like usual. She comes back inside, sorts through it, and startes reading (to herself) a letter.
All of a sudden she yells, "Frank, you have to see this letter a congresswoman sent me!"
Sarcasticly, my father replies "right, a "congress woman" sent YOU a letter? YOU SPECIFICALLY".
My mother startes to read " Dear Ms. D'Andrea, I recently read the New Haven Register's featured article about you and your business..."
Who would have thought my mother would get a letter from a congresswoman?? She saw the article and wanted to thank my mother (Jewels for Hope) for all of the work she has done. I thought this was SO SWEET! Jewels for Hope has been recognized!
Here is the very kind letter Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro sent...
I am just thrilled that the article in the paper actually brought some recognition to Jewels for Hope. My mother really is a freakin saint and deserves so much! This letter brightened up our day!

Free Samples? BE CAREFUL!
Ever since I entered the blogging world, I have been thrown into the world of Free Samples. You can browse through tons of bloggers who write about amazing free stuff you can get. It's like Christmas. We all know I love a free item... especially being unemployed- free is always the best way to go for me.
Even though I do love my freebies.... I am also EXTREMELY CAUTIOUS when using them. Here is why... Many Many MANY years ago, my mother used a free sample of shampoo. Now, this was when I was much younger- I want to say this was well over 10 years ago. My mother is not normally one to go after the "free sample" like I am. Its is just not her thing. But, she did try this free sample of shampoo. Turns out, she had a bad reation to something inside of the shampoo. Something that was NOT supposed to be there.
My mother was sick for MONTHS. All she did was lay on the couch. I know you don't know my mother, but she NEVER lays on the couch. She gets too antsy- she always has to be doing something. It was a horrible time, and I can't believe it actually happened to my mom. She was so sick for that time.... All from a "free" sample.
I'm not writing this post into scaring you not to use any free sample ever again - trust me, even though this did happen to my mother, I still use samples. Granted, I never go near a shampoo sample ha ha, but you could see why.
I just want to make you aware that this kind of stuff does happen and to just be careful. If your free sample looks like it has been tampered with, do not use it. If you do use a free sample- always keep the packaging a day or so just in case you actually need to reference it again. Just be careful. I wouldn't want something like this to happen to you.

I'm Back!
Hey all! It's been two days since my last post. We had out HUGE MEETING in the city on Tuesday, and then yesterday I decided all I wanted to do was lay around and relax. I didn't go anywhere except the gym and all I did was lay around with the fiance.
Your asking how my meeting went? Oh, thank you!
I still am in shock over it. Unfortunately, I can't even tell you much about it lol. What I can tell you is that I had to give a tiny presentation and I freaked out for days over it. I'm not kidding, I freaked out for DAYS. I have never really been in this type of setting before so I had no idea what to expect. I was a complete knot of nerves. You should have seen me in the car ride there! AH!
It actually went really well though. At least in my eyes it did. I gave a short 10 min presentation with the charms and they ended up keeping 3 of them! WOOHOOO. We still have no idea if they are going to use them- that's fine. We are now just playing the waiting game. All I know is that I have a really really good feeling about it. So I am staying positive.
Once I hear anything about this meeting, don't worry- you'll be one of the first to know! I am still just in shock over this ha ha.
So, today I must start my hardcore job hunt again. I put it on a TINY hold while I was preparing for this meeting. Now that it's over, back to hours on the computer job hunting. Wish me luck <3

Father's Day!
Happy Father's Day everyone! I hope you all enjoy today!
Today's post will be somewhat short and sweet ha ha. First, I have to brag a bit because I'm really excited...
I entered my father into a contest through Lord and Taylor's facebook page to win TWO Yankees Suite Tickets VIP! Well... HE WON!!!!!!!!! So me and him are going to a Yankee Game on June 28th- first class baby. I am so excited! My father hasn't been to a Yankee game since he took my grandfather- which had to be at least 10 years ago.
I am so happy. And especially since I am unemployed and can't afford to get my father anything for fathers day- This is his gift! I'm thrilled! Don't worry- I'll totally take tons of pictures of the suite we're in at the game. And hopefully I won't drink too much and make a fool out of myself in front of all the highrollers :)
Now... I am so nervous about our meeting on TUESDAY. Yes, two days. So that is why today's post will be very short. I am getting together a presentation for the meeting. We got 100 surveys completed! Woohoo! Thank you to everyone who emailed me for the surveys. I will post the winner of the anklet next week :)
I hope everyone has an amazing father's day!

I'm turning into my mother.
I am turning into my mother. I always knew this day would come, I just didn't think it would be so soon.
We all know I do the marketing for our company, Jewels for Hope. I do the business end and I create the greeting cards. I have always been very happy with that- since both of those things actually make me happy. Well, I asked my mother to teach me how to do her signature style necklaces.
For days I practiced. Corey, the fiance, sat with me one night and said "I feel like I'm engaged to your mother. All you do is sit there any make jewelry". That was the moment I realized it. I am her now. It's official.
All of my hard work though has paid off. I am proud to present my first piece I am able to sell! I am so proud of myself because I think this piece is amazing. Yes, I am tooting my own horn- because I just can't believe I made this!
What do you think!?
It took me HOURS to make. My fingers felt numb after it and I had gotten torn apart from the wire. But, I love it. This piece makes me smile.
So now, along with acting like my mother, yelling loudly like my mother, looking like my mother, I now love to make jewelry like my mother. The world better look out.... this is not going to be good ha ha.
On that note.... I am through for now. I don't feel well. Of course I would get sick days before our HUGE MEETING in NYC. I am taking a ton of meds and laying in bed all day. Fingers crossed I feel better by Tuesday!

Desperately Need People for a Survey!
I posted a little while back that I really need your help to answer a VERY SHORT survey for charms.
I am asking again if anyone would please help me!!! :)
I will giveaway an anklet choosing the winner from random.org. So far, 6 people said they would do it- and only 1 has actually submited the form back to me.
I swear, the survey is super short and easy! We need women ages 8 and up!
If you are interestedm or have a daughter that would say which charm she likes- please leave your email address in this comment. If you decide to do this I would appreciate it if I could have the survey back within 1-2 days.
Our big meeting in the city is in exactly 1 week from today! We really would love your feedback before we jump in there and show them the charms!

Hospice & Parkinsons- and What That Means to Me!
Happy Tuesday Everyone! Today is a pretty drab day so far in CT. It's rainy and nasty and an all around mess.
Today I decided I wanted to talk a little bit about Jewels for Hope; The Company. For all of you newbies out there, my mother and I have our own company- Jewels for Hope. My mother creates amazing handmade jewelry- and I promote it/market it/etc. My mother started this business while taking care of my grandmother, suffering from Parkinson's Disease and Dimentia.
For anyone who has ever been a caregiver for someone ill, you know how difficult it is and what a strain it can cause on yourself as well as your family. Now, my mother was amazing in taking my grandmother in. She took care of her for 7 years in our house, as well as about 3 years before that while my grandmother and my grandfather were rehabilitation center together.
Hospice was absolutely amazing with my grandmother. Even though for 4 out of the 7 years my grandmother lived with us I was at college half the time, I still know how amazing Hospice was. Hospice would come to our house every day towards the end- to take care of the hole my grandmother had accquired. They would change her bandages, and clean everything. I don't know how these people can do this. I give them SO much credit.
My mother gets weak in the knees when my sister and I talk about a cut-- so the fact that my grandmother had a gaping hole was out of the question for my mom! She would have never been able to do what Hospice did.
Since Hospice was so good to our family, Jewels for Hope started donating to them. This has been from the start of our company in 2009.
Recenetly, we changed things up.
We still donate to Hospice but the way we have done it is now a bit different. This is a brand new change for us and would love your feedback.
We have a section on our website called "Creations for a Cause". In this section, we donate 50% of the proceeds to the following organizations:
We are starting to expand our donations, since there are just so many organizations out there that need help. We plan on adding a couple more before the summer is over.
Each organization has their own color code. Depending on which item sells, decides which organization the 50% goes to.
Now, the big change in our company? We decided we want to start a fund that we will give to families in need of "a break" from taking care of their loved ones. Let me explain this a little more....
For every item sold that is not under the Creations for a Cause section, we will give at least 10% to someone who needs help. When my mother was taking care of my grandmother, Hospice came for 4 hours a day (2 in the morning, 2 at night) to give my mother some time to get out of the house- whether that be go get a cup of coffee, go to the grocery store- anything. Well, Hospice only gives a maximum of 4 hours. We know how expensive it is to get someone to help you for a full day if you had to go to a party or even just spend a day with your family.
We still are unsure of how we are going to get this money to a deserving person. We are thinking of possibly giving it to Hospice to pass on to someone- since they will obviously know the people who need this. We are still working out the kinks, since we literally just decided this about 2 weeks ago. This will be called Hope for Caregivers. I expect we will have everything worked out for this within the next month- so stay tuned to get all the details lol.
In honor of us changing up our donations, I would like to offer you all a 20% discount to our shop. Donating never looked so great! You really can make a difference with every item purchased.
To get your 20% off your order, please use code: JEWELSFORHOPE20 in the coupon code box at checkout on our website, Jewels for Hope.
To all of you caregivers out there.... We give you credit. We know how difficult it is to take care of someone you love. Even though technically I was not the caregiver for my grandmother, I could see how much my mother struggled. Hell, our whole family did. You will get through it though... I know that is not really great spectacular advice, or words to help you..... I wish I had that for you. Just- take every day one day at a time <3

Michael J Fox's Parkinson's Research Foundation- Orange, White
Breast Cancer Research Foundation- Pink

A Blog from Blackpool- Beauty Giveaway!
Who wants to enter a great summer giveaway?
Well.. A Blog from Blackpool is having a giveaway to celebrate getting 100 followers! I absolutely love this blog! Danielle, the writer, is a sponsor here at Jewels for Hope! Even though she does sponsor here, I have been following her blog for some time now!
A little bit about the giveaway, since I know you all are dying to know what goodies Danielle is offering!
Here is what Danielle has to say about these great items.....
Urban Decay lipstick in Voodoo because the packaging is so cute with the little dagger on the top and the shade is a deep shimmery red.
Eyeko lip gloss in Mayfair. I got this lip gloss in my surprise gift box and loved it so much (I’ve used about half the tube already) I thought I’d get one to share with you.
TWO- W7 glitter nail varnishes. These are my favourite glitter polishes and they seem to only be available in limited colours online via Amazon. I am giving two away, Green dazzle and Cosmic mauve.
Personally, I love anything with glitter. I would head on over and enter her giveaway! Feel free to browse around her blog too!
Here are some things I've learned about Danielle that I absolutely love her for:
1. She is obsessed with fake eyelashes. Hello, Glamour!!
2. She spray tans. I have been super nervous to try that and I saw a blog posting she did on it (somewhat) recently. Now, I may actually get the balls to try it once I get some income :)
3. Danielle loves tattoos. A girl after my own heart! Tattoos=love in my book!

Sponsor Spotlight- I love My Daddy Event: Recycled Grace!
Now, I know I already have done a review post about the item I received from Recycled Grace, but I just had to do another one because I love her items. And since it's my blog, I can do what I want, haha.
Grace, of Recycled Grace, creates gorgeous repurposed items! Here is her mission statement (or at least I call it a mission statement)
"Save the planet while you shop! All recycled, reclaimed, upcycled and repurposed items! Everything is made with reclaimed, repurposed, recycled materials. "
The last post I did about Recycled Grace was about this adorable repurposed billabong tank she made for me. You can view that post here.
Now, Some of her other items she creates are so unique! Not only does she just make clothes- she has a ton more items. One of my favorite is this table...

I Love My Daddy Giveaway Sponsor Spotlight: TIE OBSESSED!
Another sponsor spotlight? Yes, that is right people! I have tons of sponsors for this fabulous I Love My Daddy Giveaway Blog Hop that is happening on JUNE 15TH, @ 9PM EST! So be sure to check on back to see what amazing items we have for you!
This sponsor is absolutely perfect for any father! Tie Obsessed! I know when I was younger, I always bought my dad a tie for any occasion. I knew he would wear them to work, no matter what they looked like.
Now, the ties at Tie Obsessed are really sharp! The pictures showcase them excellently I think. If I had gotten my dad ties like these when I was younger, I bet he would actually LIKE wearing them ha ha.
I personally love men with ties on. I helped Paul go shopping for one the other day when he had a wedding to go to. He looked so good in a skinny pink tie!
I personally love the designs that Tie Obsessed (owner, Vivian) has on her etsy shop. She has such an assortment of colors, patterns, and sizes I don't know how you can't find something you love here!

From Posters to Shot Glasses!
I like to decorate. Even though I currently live with my parents and can't technically decorate my house the way I want it (since it isn't my house!) I still love to design things and browse around on the web.
Well, my father the other day asked me to help find some great posters for his office. YAY! He runs, Sound City Music & Entertainment- an amazing entertainment company (cough cough, call them if you live in CT) haha.
I found this AWESOME website. I've come across this website in the past but never actually browsed through it. It's called Cafe Press! They have the best posters! Who knows if my father is even going to take any of my suggestions - I'm more funky and he's more rock and roll. So we'll see. At least I found this great website!
And since I have a shopping addiction that we all knowand love, I couldn't just stop looking at the posters on this site. Want to know what else I looked at? SHOT GLASSES! Because along with having a shopping addiction, I have a pretty rad collection of shot glasses. I like to get one from places I travel. I loveee this one!
Maybe I wouldn't drink so much if I had a shot glass like this? Don't get me confused- I am by no means a heavy drinker. Now that my gal bladder was removed I can barely tolerate 2 drinks. But at least this would be a reminder that hangovers really do suck!
So far I have about 35-40 shot glasses. Not ALLL from places I've traveled- some are duplicates and some are just hysterical. Either way- love collecting them. Do you have something you love to collect? Possibly drinking related? haha.
Hm, have you realized my last two posts are now invloving drinking? Interesting. Well... like I left it last time....

I Love My Daddy Sponsor Spotlight; Flask Mobb
I have a thing for flasks. If you ask any of my friends, my "signature gift" is flasks. I love finding new ones that are different and are unique. I think I gave my bestie Paul at least 4 or 5 flasks over the years, just because I think they're awesome.
I came across Flask Mobb on etsy. OH, HOW PRETTY!!! These flasks are so unique. Just from browsing the website I can't decide which is my favorite. She makes an adorable Coach one that I just love!
And it's pink!!! I love pink.
Flasks are becoming the new thing I feel- even for non-alcoholics ha ha. I like to think of myself as not having a huge drinking problem- but I still love my flasks!
Flask Mobb has a ton of different designs that everyone can find something they love!
Need something for that sports-aholic fan? Why not a flask! See, I feel for any occasion a flask is suitable. And since we know I always have weddings on the mind, perfect for any groomsman!!!
Well, you may get the chance to have one of your very own unique flasks! Yes, that's right.. Flask Mobb is a sponsor in the I Love My Daddy Giveaway Blog Hop! You will have to come back and see what the prize is on June 15th!! RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER!

My 100th Blog Post!
The big 1-0-0! I can't believe that! I feel like yesterday I started my blog up and now I'm already at 100 posts. Well, technically I passed the 100 mark a month ago buuuutttttt, I don't count any of the posts from when I was sick because I had stopped blogging for so long. So that doesnt count. So far, 100 posts for 2011. WOO HOO!
I wish I had an amazingly spectacular post to write for this. I decided I will make this post a little bit more about me. Because technically this is my celebration today- so cute pictures of me is what I will celebrate with! HAHA. Below you'll see shots of me, my family and friends. Because I know when I go to others blogs, I always try to see if I can find out really what they are like and who they are. Hopefully you'll get a sense of "me" by my amazingly perfect writing skills (HA!) and by these photos :)
Hiking. Yes, I go hiking OCCASIONALLY. Actually, this was only my 2nd time. But I loved it! and that is my fiance <3 |
Bestie, Paul & Myself |
Family <3 My cousin & two sisters |
Me as a blonde! ah!!!!!!!!! I miss it sometimes |
Layla & myself on vacation- years ago. Sexy, right? |
As Gaga says..... I Am My Hair. |
One of my favorite people, Nicole. She is tan and my hairdresser. I love her. |
My other sister Krista and I. We change our hair colors every month. |
Hopefully some of these pics show the real me. Well, actually some of these pics below actually show the REAL ME.
I fell. I fall A LOT. This was me "trying" to be quiet, after a night of drinking. And of course, I fell in Paul's driveway. |
Where'd I get a balloon hat? |
Paul, lifting me out of dog shit I fell in. TADA! Me covered in dog shit. |
I wish I could tell you what I was doing |
So. This is me. I'm a bit of a mess, in a really great way, haha.
Have a great day everyone!!!!
